The Old Republic: Deceived Excerpt Online

The first cinematic trailer shown for the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game depicted the Sacking of Coruscant, and featured Darth Malgus lead a group of Sith against the Jedi Temple. This was the introduction of the Sith named Malgus, and it must have been clear to those at Lucas Licensing that he was an intriguing character to the fans. Shortly after the trailer was released, a novel by Paul S. Kemp was announced. Titled Deceived, it will tell the tale of Darth Malgus, and reveal his story. Today, StarWars.com has released an excerpt from the second chapter of Deceived. If you enjoyed the cinematic trailer, you’ll be fascinated by this excerpt, as it retells the battle in the Temple from Malgus’ point of view. You can read it as a PDF here.

The Old Republic: Deceived will be released on March 22.

Outcast Cover And Blurb

The Official Site has just posted a first look for Fate Of The Jedi: Outcast, including the cover and a blurb. The cover (front and back) can be seen below:

The cover definitely has a different feel than other covers, such as the recently released Blood Oath one. It is much more iconic than most of the other novels, though we had to expect something like that from Sue Rostoni’s comments. Luke is featured on the front of it, while Ben is on the back. Comic Previews & Dark Times

DarkHorse.com has posted previews for Legacy #32 and Knights of the Old Republic #37. Legacy #32 starts a new story arc titled Fight Another Day written by John Ostrander and art by Omar Fancia. The preview can be found here.

Blood Oath Cover And Blurb

TCW Mobile Game from THQ

StarWars.com sent out a newsletter this morning announcing the new mobile game Star Wars: The Clone Wars from THQ. Details from the newsletter:

Rumor Alert: TCW Series on DVD in March?

Retail sources have told fan site Obi-Wan’s Lost Brother‘s Jeff Frost that Warner Brothers will be releasing “The Clone Wars” series on DVD (and likely Blu-Ray) in March. It apparently contain Season One, Volume One, or the first 10 or so episodes of the first season. Currently, reports have it at a release date of March 25, 2009. This is just a rumor at the moment; we are working on getting a confirmation on the dates. We do know, however, plans were for TCW to go to DVD/Blu-Ray, as Steve Sansweet has said in some recent interviews. We will keep you updated!

Joe Schreiber Talks Deathtroopers

Book Spot Central’s Jay Tomio recently sat down with author Joe Schreiber’s upcoming Star Wars novel Deathtroopers, which is also his first venture into the galaxy far, far away. Here’s an excerpt:

Jay Tomio - Your forthcoming contribution to the Star Wars EU, Deathtroopers, has the tag of being a bit of a Star Wars ‘horror’ novel. Looking at the films from the perspective of not only an observer, but as an observer with a horror perspective what is the most horrifying moment in Star Wars?

Joe Schreiber – Certainly to a child’s eye, the first appearance of Darth Vader is a terrifying moment — his towering, unrelenting blackness, the soulless skull-like design of his face, and perhaps worst of all the constant respiratory gasp of machinery compensating for the maimed thing that lurks inside his armor. I’ve heard Vader’s uniform described as a kind of walking coffin, and it’s a perfect description. I think it summarizes why his presence — so familiar now after thirty-plus years — was so immediately chilling back then.

TFU Demo Breaks Xbox LIVE Top 10 for 2008

Xbox LIVE Director of Programming, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, has released the Top 20 Games of 2008. Coming in at #9 was the demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed! This list is based on the number of unique users who played the game this year.

With it being Friday, it’s time to pass on some updates made to the site over the week. We have a new book review up by Tom P. for the only first person narrative EU story, I, Jedi; you can find the review on our review’s page here. The Clone Wars To Return Tonight!

EU Cantina.net was recently made aware that actress Adrienne Wilkinson, who portrayed Maris Brood in the recent “The Force Unleashed” smash hit, is holding her annual holiday charity. This year, the Official Adrienne Wilkinson Fan Club Charity will be auctioning off a bunch of SW and TFU related items. These include: Signed TFU games, Maris photo’s, signed interviews, and much more. All items can be quickly bought instead of bidding on it as well.

Battlefront III Renders Leaked

Former Free Radical employee Richard Smith has uploaded original renders created for the company in 2007 as part of the production for Star Wars: Battlefront III to his personal blog. The very early renders include images of Han Solo and Sahra The Bounty Hunter.

The images seem to have disappeared from Smith’s blog. With BF3 now in the hands of Rebellion, we will hopefully see the game in the next year or two!
